The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless others, have rightfully provoked fear, hurt, and outrage in our community. Rewriting the Code’s mission is to support and empower ALL college and early career women in tech. This means we must stand on the side of justice and equality so that Black women in our community may fully realize their dreams without fear, doubt, or unnecessary roadblocks.
In 2019, RTC formed Black Wings to better address and support the unique needs of our Black community. We are committed to continuing to build upon the great work of this group and are diligently working with our Black Wings leaders to listen and respond to the immediate needs of the community. We are committed to providing safe spaces for open dialogue amongst our community members and sharing resources that will help the entire community to better understand what an ally looks like. We are all in this together and must find our way out of the darkness, together.
To all of the Black women in the RTC community — we see you. You matter and your lives matter. You are an important part of the RTC community and our country. We want you here and we want you healthy, safe, and able to fully realize those dreams! We know we won’t have all of the answers but we will not waver in our support of you.
