Durham, NC – January 28, 2021
For immediate release: Rewriting the Code, a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting college and early career women with a passion for technology, has been growing our online community by leaps and bounds. The community, which has surpassed 10,000 members, is free to join and open to all college students, undergraduate and graduate, pursuing technology-related majors.
“Just two years ago, we were announcing that our community of talented women had grown to 2,000. We’ve created intersectional communities, expanded our educational programming and mentorship, added dedicated corporate partners, launched recruiting events and leveraged our virtual platform to respond to the needs to college women faced with the challenges of the pandemic. And now we’ve grown five times our number of members in just two years.” [Sue Harnett, Founder, President + Board Chair, Rewriting the Code]
Rewriting the Code partners with tech companies to provide 12-month continuous support for 1st through 4th year undergraduate computer science and engineering majors, graduate students, and RTC alumni who have launched their tech careers.
“Since we already offered a wide variety of online programming, we were well positioned to help women during the past year. From personal and tech learning opportunities, to a virtual career summit and diversity forum, and scholarships to support students experiencing financial hardship, 2020 was a critical year for the Rewriting the Code community.” [Jade Barricelli, VP, Student + Partner Programs]
Membership is open to join all year, and members are offered a wide variety of programs, which are free to students. To find out more about Rewriting the Code, including how to join the community of women in tech, visit rewritingthecode.org.
