Welcome to Rewriting the Code! We’re so excited you’ve decided to join us. You probably have some questions about what to expect and how to make the most of your experience, but don’t worry; we’ve got you covered.
What can I get out of RTC?
RTC exposes you to a vast network of over 50,000 members, as well as our partner organizations and working professionals. You’ll also have access to internships, new grad, and early career opportunities from companies that prioritize meeting candidates from RTC. Many RTC members have found successful internships and jobs through our annual events, like VCS, UK&ICS, Unite & Ignite, TechConnect, and our community platform myRTC!
What is myRTC?
myRTC is our new member platform! It’s the one place for your early tech career. Jobs curated for women in tech, mentors, events, projects, learning, and your AI Career Coach. All behind one login, with the RTC community alongside you, so you’re not navigating tech alone.
Does RTC ever host in-person events?
Yes! We would love to meet you in person (even though we do host a lot of virtual events). One of our busiest times of the year is during the summer when we host our Summer Hub events. We partner with companies to host events, throw our own networking parties, and our Summer Hub leaders put on small gatherings nearly every week, depending on what city you’re in!
We also host exclusive, special events at conferences, sometimes with partner companies, and periodically outside conference season.
For our Early Career Members, we have in-person events surrounding our Unite & Ignite Summit and Tech Hubs, which makes meeting people when you’ve moved to a new city so much easier.
How can I get involved with the RTC community?
We have a few ways of interacting with our community!
Slack is your home for networking, socializing, hearing about events, asking questions, and more. myRTC is our platform for registering for events, signing up for mentoring sessions, and applying to jobs! Utilizing these two platforms will fundamentally change your RTC experience. We also send out emails and newsletters with everything that’s happening around RTC, so even if you aren’t regularly checking those two platforms, we try to make sure you don’t miss too much.
Another way to get involved is through RTC Gather. RTC Gather is an opportunity for our members to host events in their area! Even if you aren’t in a Hub city, you’re able to submit event requests to meet more RTC members in your area!
What should I do first if I just signed up?
Start by filling out your profile on myRTC. Then register for an event (we recommend RTC 101!). It’s the fastest way to get value on day one.
How do I register for an event?
Find the event on myRTC and register in just a couple of clicks. On your sidebar, go to ‘Explore Events’. There, you’ll be able to find what event you want to attend. Click ‘Register’, and you’re in! Quick registration is one of the first things beta testers noticed.
