Niche roles filled
including data science & backend engineering
Reddit is one of the largest online platforms in the world, known as “the front page of the internet,” with millions of active communities that thrive on diverse voices and perspectives.
Challenges
Reaching women and underrepresented talent for niche technical roles
Before partnering with RTC, Reddit struggled to bring women into the top of its recruiting funnel, especially for more specialized positions such as backend engineering and data science.
“Some of the pain points that we had before working with RTC was getting women in the top of our funnel, exposing them to some of the technical roles that we had, and especially some of the more niche roles such as backend engineering.”
With a small recruiting team, Reddit needed a scalable way to meet more women in tech while ensuring candidates were prepared for the interview process.
Solution
Expanding reach through RTC’s community and events
RTC gave Reddit access to a broader, more diverse talent pool.
“One of the biggest benefits of working with RTC and having a smaller team, we’re able to meet a lot of the students that we might not be able to meet on campuses.”
RTC also prepares members before events, ensuring that by the time they interact with recruiters, they’re polished, confident, and ready for interviews.
This preparation and exposure played out directly in student journeys, as seen in the case of one RTC member who attended Reddit’s info session during RTC’s Virtual Career Summit, connected with recruiters, applied, and ultimately was hired into a software engineering internship.
Results
From internships to promotions, RTC talent drives long-term impact
Through RTC, Reddit has hired exceptional early-career women who thrive both during their internships and as full-time employees.
“These young women come in, they do a phenomenal job in their internship while also having fun. And then when it comes to converting them into full-time, we see RTC members actually accept their offers at a high rate.”
The partnership goes beyond entry-level recruiting; RTC members are advancing quickly once they’re inside Reddit. Within 18 months, about 70% of RTC hires are promoted, underscoring both their talent and Reddit’s commitment to supporting diverse growth.
For Reddit, partnering with RTC has been more than a recruiting strategy. It’s been a way to align their workforce with their platform’s mission of representing all communities.
