FAQ

Will I have time for this with my busy course schedule?

You control your level of engagement. Some members check in daily, while others connect mainly during tough project weeks or when job-hunting. Our Slack community is there 24/7, but you participate when it works for your schedule, whether that’s between classes or during late-night study breaks.

Is this relevant to my specific technical interests?

Absolutely. We have dedicated channels for both technical topics (AI, gaming, cybersecurity, UX design, data science) and personal interests (books, pets, self-care). Our community connects you with women who share your passions, whether you’re discussing technical projects or chatting about your favorite novels.

What if I’m not at a top-ranked tech program?

Our community includes women from all types of universities, large state schools, small liberal arts colleges, HBCUs, and community colleges. We believe talent exists everywhere, not just at elite institutions. Many of our most active members come from schools you might not find on “top tech programs” lists.

How does this compare to my campus women in tech group?

We complement campus groups rather than replace them. Your local organization provides valuable on-campus connections, while RTC gives you access to a nationwide network, industry mentors, and companies actively hiring women in tech. Many of our members are leaders in their campus groups and use RTC to expand their resources.

How selective is the application process?

Not selective at all! We only review applications to verify you’re a real person and identify as a woman in tech. If that’s you, you belong here—no need to worry about being “good enough” or having the “right” qualifications.

Can I join if I’m not a CS major?

Absolutely! We welcome women studying data science, information systems, engineering, design, and other tech-adjacent fields. If you’re building technology or aiming for a tech career, this community is for you.

How much does membership cost?

Membership is completely free. We believe financial barriers shouldn’t prevent any woman from accessing the support she needs to succeed in tech. Our Future of Tech Fund is also available for members facing financial challenges that impact their education or career.

I’m just starting my first tech course. Is it too early to join?

Not at all! Many members join during their first technical course. Getting support early in your journey can make a huge difference in your confidence and persistence in tech. You’ll connect with women who remember what it’s like to be new to the field and can help you build a strong foundation.
